I'm no longer working on the game, so it's not likely. Sorry. I think I remember someone getting it to work on Wine. Never heard of anyone trying it on Proton, but maybe it works!
Beat it a day ago on Nintendo Switch. Had a fun time with it and would recommend it. Switch version runs without problems. Great game for one evening.
2 questions:
- Will the soundtrack show up on spotify? Or is that a question for Ayrayen? The emerald cave theme is great
- Was the Mario Sunshine esque Superman Dive intended? If you quickly hit (backflip)jump and dive you can do a super far and high dive. Felt a bit like cheating when I used it and not sure I did some sequence breaking :D I found the dash so late in my playthrough.
Yep! It's intended. I wanted the fun of the game to be in moving around quickly and freely, Super Mario Sunshine was in fact a big inspiration! There are some more egregious sequence breaks which weren't initially intended, but were left in for the same reason. You can see those in any speedrun of the game.
I picked this game up during the quarantine sale, and finally got around to playing this game, and I regret not playing it sooner.
Minor Spoilers
Super Skelemania is a short and sweet metroidvania. A fun adventure, and while not perfect, definitely worth your time. I really liked the soundtrack, and how smooth the animation is.
However, it does have its flaws. The worlds, while large, are barren, making it feel more like a jungle gym than a set of platforming challenges to reach a reward. Each world can pretty much be summed up with: find the map, find the ability, and find the gong. This game's groundpound also suffers in the sense that it isn't really used much aside from getting that one gong in the mines/jungle (I'm sorry, I'm bad with names). At the very end, it is unclear what to do with the final powerup, so I would personally suggest adding an arrow or an escape sequence a la Super Metroid.
Strangely enough, what I really had fun with was messing with the movement. You can gain crazy speed with jump canceling a dive from a short jump whilst running, and climb up ladders lightning fast and skip sections with a height boost by mash backflip on ladders. This made traversing through the worlds really fun as I blazed through everything. Heck, you can even kill the boss by only dashing and jumping as a nice challenge. I'm fairly certain that none of these were intentional, but it just was so fun!
Super Skelemania was a great experience. I found one or two visual glitches along the way, but nothing major. It took me about 2 hours to complete, as I (embarassingly) did not realise I could drop through platforms whilst headrolling. Overall, a great improvent over the original, and a game I can recommend to my metroidvania friends. 5/5
(For the dev: A small nitpick would be the (Keyboard) controls, as you can't jump in mud with backflip(C). I would personally move head roll to X+DwnArr, groundpound to Z/C+DwnArr, and rocket blast to Z/C=UpArr.)
I got this game on my Switch and god I love it! It brings a skeleton (my favourite thing/ character) to life and doing epic platforming skills, collecting new powers and taking "Use your head" to it's literally sense! GOD I LOVE IT!
It's made in GameMaker and for some reason lots of anti-virus programs think games made in GameMaker are malicious. You can just hit ignore and continue if you're getting it from Defender, I can assure you that it isn't a virus. It would have been taken off of itch and Steam years ago if it were a virus.
To explain this further, most GameMaker games don't have a publisher listed in their metadata. That doesn't mean that it's a virus, it just means it isn't published by Microsoft or Sony or some other well known publisher. Anti-virus programs seem to correlate no publisher or no well know publisher with VIRUS though.
Great game. Nearly finished, though I still have to defeat the final boss. The one question i have is about the computer in the spider/lizard jungle that says "You are not worthy of SKIN." Is that after the final boss, or is there something else I have to do? Also, any tips on the final boss?

Will we get Linux and Mac versions too?

I assume there will be no further sale for this game, after the "Games to help you stay inside" discount? (Maybe this time a bit longer than before.)
Least I got this when it was free. 😎
Is this a minecraft skin? I am confused

Regarding the computer, check all of your maps. There's probably something you haven't found!
Regarding final boss tips, you can hit any part of the final boss and it doesn't deal contact damage. Backflip + air attack is the way to go.
Small bug, but whenever I interact with the books in the library, the animation that was playing right before continues to play.
