Wow

Golly gee wiz it's been a busy month for me workin on this game. Here's a list of all the stuff I did (that I can remember)

  • Rebuilt the drafting system from the ground up and redesigned and implemented almost every existing card
  • Added a new card type (relics) and added 30 to the game
  • Added the concept of passive aura effects that can be toggled on and off
  • Gave the enemy some actual intelligence
  • Added dynamic card text formatting
  • Added a restart button so I don't have to hard reset the game every time

The miracle of all of this is that it *mostly* works. I've been encountering the occasional bug, but its mostly been simple mistakes from re-implementing something and not fully testing it. There's only one mysterious unaccounted for bug which I may have fixed, but am not certain. I'm sure there's many unrevealed bugs, there's too many untested edge cases for it to be bug free.

There's a few more tasks I'd like to get done soon, mostly stuff to help ease people who aren't me into the game, but the game is getting close to where I will need some help. What I really need is a partner in crime who can help with art and/or music and/or game balancing and/or game design. Ideally like... 3 out of those 4 at least... which is a tall ask.

I am also wondering if I could pitch this game to someone with $$$. It presents poorly in screenshots (and that isn't changing without a dedicated artist) but it actually feels quite polished to play. There's a lot of gameplay feedback animation in place which you wouldn't typically see this early in this kind of project. I'll need to think on it some more I think.

Once I get some of the onboarding stuff in, I might record an updated gameplay video. If I keep up my current pace, you might be able to expect that in a week or two. If I feel like I need a break, I'll record it sooner without those onboarding changes. If I'm commentating, they won't be necessary for the video anyway.
